HAIR CARE ROUTINE

Hello all,

So recently I've been kinda obsessing over my hair as I thought it was really unhealthy, honestly I had some really bad split ends, as my hair is quite long (almost at the booty) and I hadn't had it cut it a while either. Personally, I think it's a bit pointless going to the hairdressers and spending £10 just to have the ends cut off, so I simply get my mum to do it at home for free (obviously we have a proper kit we don't just use a random pair of scissors)
For a while I was debating getting my hair cut short (like shoulder length) but I couldn't bare not having the length! Also because my hair is a frizzy mop half the time and imagine that shorter....all I see is a lion!
So, I did some digging and found some amazing products to help tame the beast and also replenish my hair!

So I wash my hair normally about 4 times a week when I have swimming, which means I have to wash it a lot to clean the chlorine out of it!

Enough talking now, here are my hair care essentials:

Firstly, for shampoo I mainly use this one by Aussie, called 'Repair Miracle' and is specifically for repairing damaged hair. I love Aussie as they have products for every hair type, so you'll definitely find one that suits you, in addition they smell soooooo good and there's all kind of funny and cheeky things written all over them! (because who doesn't love to read the bottles whilst in the shower) These products can be quite pricey but they work wonders and Boots often have good offers on them!

Once a week I use this 'Andre Barton, SOS HELP ME!' conditioning treatment. (I did mention this in my May faves) Basically how it works is: you run it through the ends of your hair to about 3 quarters of the way up, leave it in for 3 minutes then brush is through and wash out. It leaves you hair smelling amazing and you can really see the difference even after one use!

When I don't use the Andrew Barton conditioner I use this one (so at swimming) It smells so good and it's really good for just a conditioner to use regularly. Again, it's Aussie and is called the 'miracle moist conditioner'

Brushing your hair is key to keeping it healthy. Admittedly, I don't brush mine as much as I should, but if like me you have bushy hair, you'll understand that once it comes in contact with the brush it grows up to 3 times in size and you end up with an afro. Having said that I always make sure to brush my hair when it's wet, making it easier for me as well as de-tangling.
The main brush I use is this big black one from boots as well as the smaller comb for parting my hair. I find this is the only brush that works for me, as it's the only one that hasn't come apart whilst trying to get knots out!
It's also very important to wash your brushes, to avoid build up of bacteria or dust, so that's why I use mine in the shower once a week to wash them.
After washing my hair, I sometimes like to blow dry it and before hand I always spray my hair with this Aussie 'take the heat' protection spray.
I feel like a lot of people don't know that this is vital as the easiest way to get damaged hair is by heat (blow drying, curling straightening etc...) so by putting a protection spray on is the way to avoid that damage, and this one is amazing! It smells so good and saves your hair! what more could you want??

For those 'in-between wash days' or the 'hair needs a wash but you don't want to ruin the system' days I love to use dry shampoo, these two are my favourites. Boots own dry shampoo in original and Batise dry shampoo is blush. Both are amazing quality and smell really good but the Batise is just that bit more expensive.
For a cheaper option you could also use baby powder or talcum powder, as all they do is mattify and dry the hair.

Also on a daily/regular basis I like to use this oil to keep my hair under control. (again mentioned it in last months faves) There are loads on the market at the moment and I have this one by Garnier called 'ultimate blends, the sleek perfector oil' Its really good for smoothening and controlling, as well as smelling soooo good. It can also be used as a heat protector, which is great!

There's nothing worse than having an on point hairstyle and it falling out halfway through the day, first world problems. So I like to use hairspray. I love this one Called 'shine + hold' by Aussie as it holds the hair so well without looking glossy or too shiny, so it's not obvious you've got a load of hairspray in, It also smells really nice and brushes out, so you don't have to wash your hair to get it out, so it doesn't damage your hair!

So, I hope this helps you to find products to save your hair if you're like me or just to help keep it looking gorgeous and healthy. As you can tell I looooove Aussie products and I would deffo recommend trying some out for yourself, as well as all the other products I have mentioned!

Fern :)

p.s I broke my wrist and am wearing a cast, so that's what the white thing on my hand is, not just some Elvis style glove I'm trying to bring back into fashion!

May favourites!

Hello all,

Soooo May seems to have flown past! I've had exams crazy and thank god they're over for another year!
This month I haven't got that much new stuff but the stuff that I have got I've been loving! There's a few beauty products as lately I've been trying some new hair products and a few other bits and bobs! (excuse the pictures the program I use to watermark them seems to have lowered the quality, which is very annoying)

Painted West - The Way You Look Tonight

Oh Ma Gawd..... this song...is...AMAZING! I seriously cannot put into words how good this song is! *screams internally* For starters I love the band, they're so talented, humble and their harmonies...so amazingly good! and the lyrics of the song are so perfect and it's still in my head all the time even after it's been out a while! So yeah, deffo go check these amazing guys out!

One seriously messed-up week in the otherwise mundane uneventful like of Jack Samsonite *big inhale* - Tom Clempson

This book had me in tears! It was so funny I couldn't stop reading it, so I read it all the time, like literally wherever I went and I'd randomly burst out laughing as I'd read it! The story line isn't that exciting to be fair, but it's just the way it's wrote that makes it so funny! So I totally loved this book!

Real Techniques - Miracle Complexion Sponge

(excuse my dirty sponge) But I LOVE this beauty! It blends and applies foundation and concealer so flawless and beautifully and its only £5! I've had this for quite a while but recently I've become re-obsessed! I use it nearly everyday and I've found that it makes my base last a bit longer as well!

Maybelline FIT me bronzer and Ecotools tapered blush brush

My fave bronzing combo of this month! I don't think you can get this bronzer in boots or shops anymore but you can get it at beauty outlets, and it was only £4.99! Its super pigmented and looks good on my pale skin (which is often hard to find) And the brush is supposed to be used for blush, but the slightly tapered end makes it super easy to get the perfect contour and the fluffy sides make bronzing so easy! I got it from TKmax for only £5 instead of the usual £10! Thank the lord for discounted shops!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - 1 Fair

This concealer is da bomb.com! It's the only concealer that is actually the right colour for me, most concealers are a tad too dark but this is perfect, the coverage is amazing for a drugstore product and I loooove it! I think I've gotten through about 4 or 5 tubes of this so deffo one of my fave!

Garnier Ultimate Blends - perfecting oil

I have really bushy and frizzy hair naturally, which is how it always is and this oil is perfect for daily 'taming' of the lions mane! It makes my hair smell amazing and feel amazing as well! It's also heat proof so you can use it before you straighten or curl your hair and it will still smell and look amazing!

Andrew Barton - SOS Help Me hair treatment!

This stuff is a life saver! My hair is quite long, like nearly at my hips and the ends tend to get quite damaged, and as it's frizzy anyway so it gets bad easily! So I tried this out and you use it like a conditioner, leave it in for 3 minutes, then wash it out and it smells amazing and it does wonders for damaged hair! Thankyou Andrew!

So, that's everything I've been loving this month! I hope you enjoyed reading and if you like any of these products tell me what you think!

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy! Follow this blog and my social media!

Thanks again!
